Gardening

We have been learning about plants over the summer term concentrating on what they need to grow (soil, water and light) and have also looked at their various parts (seeds, roots, shoots, leaves, flowers).

In addition to circle time discussions, the children have had many opportunities to gain hands on experience of plants and gardening. We have created a little garden and have planted flowers, potatoes, carrots and lettuce.

We have also grown beans inside a jar to see the roots and shoots more clearly and have sown grass seed in containers to make mini gardens and have grown cress to take home.
