Christmas 2011

Decorating the Christmas Tree at Puddleducks Montessori Nursery SchoolOur Christmas preparations started in earnest this week. The tree has been decorated entirely by the children who were very skilled at threading hooks through the baubles before hanging them on the tree.

The children have started their Christmas cards and decorations and have helped to paint and decorate Father Christmas and his reindeer who are now flying across the room. They have threaded sweet wrappers, buttons and jingle bells to make beautiful hanging decorations which tinkle each time anyone walks through the door.

The classroom activities have been enhanced to include Father Christmas, snowmen, reindeer, snowball pom-poms and sparkling snowy glitter. We have a special Christmas wrapping service where ‘Puddleducks elves’ can be found wrapping toys in boxes, bags and paper. The children extend and develop their knowledge of size and shape as they find an appropriate sized box for their selected toy or cut out an appropriate amount of paper.

We have been practising our Christmas story and song time which will be shared with parents next week and are all looking forward to our Christmas party.
